One year ago, Travis Ramsey was fighting to stay alive after a serious crash.
Now, he and his family are reuniting with the people who helped put him on the road to recovery.
On Monday, Hamilton County EMS personnel met with Ramsey and his family, who came out to thank them personally for their efforts in the February 25, 2020 incident.
First responders say Ramsey was critically injured when the motorcycle he was riding collided with an SUV.
He received multiple traumatic injuries, and spent months clinging to life.
According to a Facebook post by Hamilton County EMS, Ramsey received over 240 units of blood, multiple abdominal and orthopedic surgeries, went into cardiac arrest seven times, and endured a long and painful rehabilitation.
The crew that night was Lieutenant Blake Smith (then Sergeant), Paramedic Preston Bowers, AEMT Hank Loutzenhiser, Dep. Director Batson (then Assistant Chief), and Captain Dee Johnson (then Lieutenant).
Hamilton County EMS officials say they are entering Ramsey's story for Tennessee's Star of Life Award.
