The University of Tennessee head football coach Rusty Wright has kicked three players off his team for violation of team rules.

Former Ridgeland star linebacker Ian Hayes is one of the three.

Wright also dismissed cornerback Jhaeden Smith who played at East Hamilton.

The citation obtained by NewsChannel 9 says that Smith was stopped by police on East Brainerd Road back in May for a broken headlight. The citation says the officer asked Smith about an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, and says Smith then handed him "a small amount of marijuana." The officer then issued Smith the citation.

The third player no longer with the Mocs is tight end Logan Pitts who played at Alabama Hewitt-Trussville High School.

NewsChannel 9 is working to learn more about the reasons the other two players were kicked off the team.
