The Chattanooga Football Club has a big announcement: fans can now own part of the team.
On Thursday, CFC announced that people can buy stock in the team, and it comes with benefits including lifelong voting rights and special ownership perks.
"You'll own a share of the team and have all the rights that an owner would have," said CFC chairman Tim Kelly.
Kelly says the fan ownership is similar to the Green Bay Packers, but that this is a first in U.S. soccer history.
"American sports is dominated by a very small club of wealthy owners and they don't want public ownership, because if you have public ownership you can't move a team," said Kelly.
Kelly says the CFC is here to stay - happy news for these fans and now, investors. They want fans to feel like they're really a part of the team.
We talked to fans at the announcement about the investment opportunity.
"We are very excited to see where they go in the next ten years, and I have no doubt that good things are coming," says investor Jorge Loa.
CFC fan Andrew Bresee chimed in, "As soon as I get home and get permission from the wife on how much we are going to spend, absolutely."
The new season kicks off in March. They'll have a longer season, plus new professional players - and now, for the first time, fan ownership.
