Chattanooga Red Wolves head coach Tim Hankinson is on paid leave of absence from the team for the rest of the 2019 season.
A spokesperson for the team made the announcement Friday afternoon. We asked for more information on the decision, but the spokesperson said they did not have more to offer.
In Hankinson's place, assistant coach David Barrueta will serve as acting head coach for the team’s remaining three regular-season matches and USL League One playoff matches.
According to the spokesperson, Barrueta led the team in its last match at Lansing. He brings nearly 30 years of coaching experience to the club. He is the former head coach and assistant coach at Chattanooga-area schools and universities including Sewanee, Yale University, Longwood University and Mercer University.
This is a developing story, and will be updated.
