Here are our Scholar Athletes for the Lakeview-Ft. Oglethorpe vs Ridgeland game.
The scholar athlete from LFO High School is Taylor Phillips.
Taylor is a senior softball player with a 3.9 GPA.
She is the career homerun leader for the Warriors with 14.
Taylor played first team all-region for three years in high school, participated in the Chattanooga, Catoosa and Walker County Dream Teams and won the Best Offensive team award all four years, as well as an All-State honorable mention.
She also enjoys playing basketball and took up golf last year.
Taylor attends Parkway Baptist Church in Ft. Oglethorpe and has taken a mission trip to New Orleans to help the homeless.
She has also volunteered work at nursing homes and elementary schools and helped teachers throughout high school with the National Honors Society.
The LFO Warrior plans to attend Shorter University next fall.
The scholar athlete from Ridgeland High School is Jacob Mariakis.
Jacob is a wrestler with a 3.84 GPA.
The Ridgeland Panther has been wrestling since he was five-years-old and gives credit to the men in his family for shaping him into the athlete he is today.
He is a two-time Georgia state wrestling champion and three-time state finalist.
Jacob has participated in national tournaments such as FloNationals and National High School Coaches Association and is also a preseason national runner-up, and a Georgia freestyle champion.
He made the Best of Preps first team, and was named the Walker County co-wrestler of the year.
Jacob Mariakis is a member of Rock Bridge Community Church and a leader in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
The Ridgeland Panther plans to attend UTC next fall.
