PREVIOUSLY:

LSU basketball coach Will Wade, who used to coach the Mocs, has reportedly been caught on an FBI wiretap, the conversation centering around the recruitment of a star player and the involvement of a third party.

Yahoo Sports reports Wade was talking with a middleman about Javonte Smart getting a “strong-ass offer.”

According to Yahoo Sports' report, in June of 2017, Wade had three conversations with Christian Dawkins about getting Smart to come to Louisiana State University.

Wade is heard saying "It was tilted toward taking care of the mom, taking care of the kid. Like it was tilted towards that. Now I know for a fact he didn't explain everything to the mom. I know now, he didn't get enough of the piece of the pie in the deal."

There is much more on the wiretap. You can read more on Yahoo Sports' website here.

Dawkins and LSU Athletic Director Joe Alleva declined to comment.

Yahoo Sports reports Wade as well as Smart's mother have not responded to them.

Wade was named the Mocs coach in May of 2013, leading the team for two seasons. He was a coach on the rise.

He then went to Virginia Commonwealth University, and then LSU.
