Trapped between a wall and a hard place, Bella the toy Dachshund needed some help after a squirrel chase went awry.

Around 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Chattanooga firefighters responded to the unusual call at a Hixson home.

CFD spokesman Bruce Garner says that according to Bella's owners, she'd gotten into the house's attic to chase a squirrel.

In the pursuit, Bella fell through an opening into an interior wall between the den and master bedroom.

Her owners could hear her yelping, but couldn't find a way to get her out, and called the fire department.

Captain Andy Blevins and his firefighters with Engine 11 brought in a ladder and used a saw to cut an opening in the wall.

In a video provided by the owners, you can see SFF Shawn Roach pull Bella out moments later. He was unsure what the dog might do, so he handed it off quickly to Firefighter Brandon McCully, who was waiting below to catch it.

Bella wasn't hurt, and the owners were extremely grateful for the firefighters' efforts.
