An investigation is underway after fire destroyed a mobile home in Ooltewah early Friday morning.

A passing motorist noticed the fire a little after 2:30 a.m. at 4530 Green Shanty Road.

Spokesman Amy Maxwell says a deputy from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office was the first on the scene reporting a fully involved trailer fire.

Tri-Communuty Volunteer Fire Department (VFD) responded. Maxwell says since the trailer was consumed with fire, firefighters conducted a “defensive attack” to contain the fire.

Fire officials reported a challenge for fire trucks to get to the fire due to poor driveway conditions.

Maxwell says no one was living in the trailer and no one was hurt.

Damages are reported to be $65,000. The cause of the fire is undetermined and will be under investigation by the Tri-Community VFD Fire Marshall’s Office.
