After a thorough investigation, CPD Homicide Investigators determined the initial information reported to be unfounded. Investigators ruled this shooting to be an accidental, self-inflicted incident.
Chattanooga Police say an unidentified 16-year-old was shot on Wednesday night.
Police say the incident happened at the 600 block of North Orchard Knob just after 9 p.m.
Responding officers found the teenager suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
An ambulance took him to a local hospital.
The victim told officers he was walking along the side of the road when heard a gunshot, and then realized he had been shot.
Police searched the area and were unable to locate any crime scene.
