City of Chattanooga celebrates Arbor Day

The City of Chattanooga hosted an Arbor Day celebration last Friday and a tree planting event on Saturday.

On Friday, the city was presented with an award for being a Tree City for 29 years by Grace Wooten, Tennessee Division of Forestry and City Councilman Anthony Byrd dedicated a tree to John Henry, a leader in the Central Park neighborhood and in Chattanooga.

On Saturday, 20 volunteers planted 43 trees along Central Avenue making the new total of trees 44.

Jon Nessle, a Board Certified Master Arborist, taught the group on proper tree planting.
